The room with private onsen attached was amazing!

December 19th, 2010

Our two night stay at Kojinmari was a highlight of our trip to Japan. After much research on the internet, we decided to skip Hakone and venture further to Kinosaki. We vibed out Kojinmari and booked the room. Our choice turned out to be a bullseye. We stayed in the top(3rd) floor room with the attached private onsen. Mika and her family run this special place, and they helped make our stay a truly wonderful experience. They were super nice and wonderful hosts. The room was the perfect sanctuary to unwind after 7 nights of Tokyo and Osaka. The 3 hour train ride from Osaka was a breeze as the view is much more scenic than the Tokyo/Osaka train route. The room is huge and spotless. The private onsen tub, which can easily hold 4 or 5 people, was attached to the room and could be separated by a sliding wood panel door. It was unreal. It goes like this: soak, sit on side of tub to be cooled by the night air, then soak again. Repeat. Often. As a guest, you are also provided free passes to all of the 7 public onsens in Kinosaki. This town is so picturesque. A tram up the nearby mountain provides an excellent perspective. The Sea of Japan is a quick 10 minute bus ride. Each morning, a big Japanese breakfast was prepared for us. I believe Mika’s mother-in-law prepared it. It was delicious, filling, and the presentation was unforgettable. Who knew breakfast could be so much fun? Mika and her husband, who can speak some English ,gave us lunch and dinner suggestions as well. We did not want to leave Kojimari. If we do return to Japan some day, we will most certainly revisit Kojinmari. Supreme relaxation awaits.

‘Must see’ sights.

December 10th, 2010

The location across the road from the train/bus station was excellent. The room was very good ( Japnese style )clean, with the provision of extra toiletries, & robes & hot water if needed for drinks. The attached restaurant closed a bit early at 7pm, but the morning view from the top floor onsen, of nearby Mt Fuji, was stunning, & hard to beat in terms of a Japan list of ‘must see’ sights.

We were made to feel very special night given to us.

December 10th, 2010

We were made to feel very special night from collection at station by the individual attention given to us. Helpful and welcoming. Everyone took time to answer our slightest question, even despite the difficoulties of language differences. Our meal was exquisite;an enlightening experience. To improve, we could only suggest more written instructions in English might be helpful.(Labels to tell shampoo from conditoner, for example.) Thank you very much.

Functional ryokan in good location.

December 1st, 2010

The ryokan is very functional, has everything you would expect (including wireless internet, no laundry though). If there was air-con in the room we could not work out how to use it, but opening the window did the trick for us. Didn’t use the onsen. The staff were very helpful. Easy access to the station, if you take the subway (underground walkway) from the station almost all the way to the end (away from the station) using the exit Higashi Hongan-ji temple and then walk along the side (not the front) of the temple, the ryokan is a few blocks down. There is a big sign saying Wakamiya out the front. I wouldn’t say its the best place we stayed in Japan at but was certainly very good.

What a nice place to be!

December 1st, 2010

What a nice place to be! The Hostel has Japanese atmosphere all around and gives you a feeling as if you were in your home. It is a House made Hostel and you live with the family in the house. One is very wellcomed. The Room was really big, Japanese style. The Hostal is very well located too so its easy to go on foot to Kyoto station. I can really recomend this!
